Menopausal mood swings have many potential causes, however what follows are the basic mechanics.
Menopausal mood swings have many potential causes, however what follows are the basic mechanics.
Thousands of years ago, physicians in China began to explore the nature of human emotion and discovered a direct link between emotions and the organ system. Having helped many people resolve their emotional imbalances over the years, we've found the following to be accurate from the point of view of the physical body (obviously many factors exist in life that may trigger bodily malfunction which, in turn, could trigger an emotional response).
What is described below is the relationship between the emotions and the physical body.
The Liver has over 600 different physiological functions, one of which is to help the body adapt to the mental and emotional stresses of life. In other words, if one's Liver is functioning at a high level, stress entering one's life has no physical effect;
However, if one's Liver is NOT functioning well, stress can and will have a negative effect on the body.
Liver malfunction can cause a person to experience excessive or inappropriate mood swings, anger, resentment, stubbornness, frustration, irritability, impatience and/or depression.
For example, a person with a multitude of emotional stresses over many years may experience suppressed Liver function. Then, the loss of a loved one could cause Liver function to drop dramatically, and the person could then begin to experience mood swings. On the other hand, a well-functioning Liver will cause one to be emotionally even and generally happy.
Mood swings can be caused by a breakdown in Liver function, not simply an imbalance in brain chemistry (the typical Western Medical view of this particular condition).
Ironically, addressing only the brain chemistry with medication often leads to further difficulty resolving the problem as shown here:
This explains why a person may take a medication their entire life...the mood swings never fully resolve.
Given that one of the Liver's more than 600 functions is to purify the bloodstream, reducing or eliminating the intake of toxic chemicals (in this case medications) is very important as a part of a larger strategy to resolve mood swings.
It is also important to exercise vigorously (to the point of perspiration) for at least 30 minutes a day (four times a week at least), thus increasing Liver circulation, soothing the Liver and stimulating increased circulation throughout the body, which allows the body to detoxify at least to a small degree.
For full detoxification of the body, we offer the Doctor Supervised Detoxification Program designed to remove all the accumulated garbage within your body. Please inquire about this if you have these mood swings and have never cleansed your body of toxins in an organized fashion under the supervision of a doctor.
It's interesting that when I looked for information about mood swings and how traditional medicine would address these, there doesn't seem to be a lot of specific information on the subject. There is the recommendation of meeting with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist to discuss if you are manic or bi-polar, but no true solution or recommendation is offered.
Medicines Two Choices for You
