In this video, Dr. Huntoon discusses the importance of understanding your health insurance policy and what it requires for it to be valid.

Many people think health insurance is used to be healthy. In Fact, health insurance may only be used when you have a full blown health concern that can be validated with objective medical testing.

Therefore, if you want to use your medical insurance, you have to have a health concern.

If you'd like to be healthy, you ultimately will have to pay for that yourself.

Our Broken Healthcare System            Listen To Our Radio Show: Ask Dr. "Why?"

Are You A Health Pessimist?

The Alternative Perspective

Many people claim to be healthy. Just ask them and they will tell you so.

And for most people in our country, being "healthy" means being “symptom free.” In other words, if they do not have an active ache or pain, they feel they are healthy. The difficulty is this couldn’t be further from the truth.

As it happens with your body, you have to lose 60 percent of your normal functioning, and be functioning at 40 percent or less in order to have an active symptom

So it begs the question, "Is that acceptable to you?"  For most, again, it seems to be the case.

Our Birthright

Health is our birthright, and yet most do not take advantage of it.

I have seen that, because it is our birthright, many in our country feel it should come for free or with minimal obligation or effort. And if this is the case, I can promise you, you will develop health problems you do not wish to have.

What sort of health concerns?

Only the top 5 causes of death in our country: the conditions of

These are at a minimum.

Let us not mention other concerns like

…the list goes on and on.

And the sad part is, we get these conditions because of our passive nature towards health. Again, we feel we do not have to do anything in order to be healthy. After all, it is our birthright.

So What Can a Person Do?

I started this article with a question which I will repeat again:  Are you a health pessimist?

Pessimism is defined as a person who habitually sees or anticipates the worst or is disposed to be gloomy.

My perspective is the pessimistic attitude pertains to the lack of effort one gives to helping their health, supporting their health and maintaining their health. We all appreciate that we have been told to

  • exercise,
  • eat right,
  • get proper amounts of sleep,
  • do not smoke, and
  • everything else in moderation

And yet, based upon the last statistics from the World Health Organization, we rank 59th in the world as a country compared to all countries related to our overall health. Said differently, 58 other countries in the world have better health than we do and live longer lives with better quality than we do in the US. And yet, we have more doctors, more hospitals, more access, more medication, more technology and more focus on fighting and “preventing” dis-ease, and yet we are losing that battle. Does anyone reading this ever stop to wonder why?

If you’ve stayed with me this far, thank you for caring. Thank you for caring enough about your health to continue reading. Because I will answer this question and many more.
